The Problem
Room-sharing is no longer optional. it's the only way many young renters can afford to live. But as demand rises, nothing has kept pace to prevent the conflicts that come with it. The result is a growing number of people forced into shared homes with no way to know, in advance, who they can actually live with.

Two patterns kept showing up.
Conflict isn't about money — it's about everyday habits like cleaning and noise. And most people only deal with those habits after they've already moved in, never before.

Insight
Based on the research and interviews, these are the three shifts LiveWith needed to make.

DESIGN SYSTEM
I started with a design system, not screens, so the experience would feel consistent everywhere. The palette is warm and human, using a coral red as primary and a softer indigo as an accent, because searching for a home to share should feel welcoming, not clinical. SF Pro keeps every weight legible and consistent across the app.

UI Kit
I built the UI kit before touching a single screen. Buttons, cards, chips, badges: all from the same system. Roommate matching already feels risky enough without a UI you have to relearn every time.

Key features
Verify Your Identity
Every user verifies their identity — phone number and a government ID — before they can match with anyone. It's a small step that makes a big difference: you're only ever matched with real, verified people, so trust starts before the first conversation.

Personality Matching Test
A ten-question test scores each person on four traits: cleanliness, noise, social energy, and privacy. Cleanliness and noise matter most since they cause 43.7% and 24.5% of conflict, so the match score feels earned rather than guessed.

Match Based on What Actually Matters
A lifestyle-based matching system that highlights real-life compatibility—habits, routines, and expectations. So users can find roommates who truly fit.

Better Roommates
Start With Better Matches
The compatibility score means nothing if browsing profiles still feels like a chore. So matching happens through a swipe, the same gesture people already use without thinking. Each card leads with the score and the details that matter, cleanliness, noise, daily rhythm, not a face. Swipe past someone and you've ruled them out for a real reason. Match, and the conversation starts already knowing you'll actually get along.

No More Awkward Openers
LiveWith breaks the ice with lifestyle-based prompts instead of small talk. Suggested questions steer the conversation toward daily habits and living expectations, so compatibility comes up early instead of after move-in.

Split Chores, Stress Less
A good match won't do the dishes for you. LiveWith turns chores into a shared list: tap a category, set how often it repeats, assign who's on it.

People First, Home Second
Other apps start with the room. LiveWith starts with the person. Once matched, both users receive home recommendations filtered by their shared preferences, then browse listings, review house rules, and book viewings together. Choosing a home becomes a joint decision, not a race to fill a vacancy.
